What We Do

Mission Statement:

Bridges of Belonging, Inc. established an Adult Family Home (AFH) in the La Crosse Area to serve persons with developmental disabilities. The inspiration for this home is based on the work of l’Arche International, which fully embraces the spiritual and human dimensions of life with dignity. The home provides a family-like environment where residents share meals, responsibilities, prayer and celebrate together. Though rooted in Christian values, the home welcomes individuals from any denomination.

Bridges of Belonging, Inc is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Bridges of Belonging, Inc. is guided by these same core values and principles which include:

The recognition of the unique value of all persons, with or without a developmental disability.
The recognition that a life shared in relationship with others, through prayer, work and celebration, is a fulfilled life.
The recognition that we are all created, by God, to give and receive love.

This all volunteer board governs the operation of The Dwelling Place, actively fundraising on its behalf, choosing appropriate contract partners to provide services and monitoring performance in line with the mission statement and expectations.

Residents and their families are partners with the Bridges of Belonging Board of Directors in creating a successful, inviting and loving home.

The FSPA community has long been a strong, supportive partner in nurturing the idea of an Adult Family Home with Christian values and embraces a value of care and individual growth. They have hosted monthly board meetings, have included Bridges of Belonging in their prayer vigil, and have had a presence in the home.
